CONNECTING THE APP
TO THE CAMERA MOUNT.

How to mount, power, connect and set up the Match Moments motorized mount so it follows the play by itself. It takes just a few minutes.

MM-CM1iPhone appAbout 5 minutes

What you need

  • An iPhone with the Match Moments app – for now the mount works only with the iPhone app
  • The MM-CM1 motorized mount with its phone holder
  • A 12 V ⎓ power adapter, at least 3 A, with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm plug (center positive), or a USB-C PD power bank with a 12 V cable
  • A tripod with a 1/4" screw, or an adapter for a horizontal or vertical pipe

The iPhone app is currently distributed through TestFlight – we are happy to send you an invitation.

1Mounting

Place the mount where it can see the whole rink – ideally raised, near the center line. Choose how to mount it:

Tripod

The bottom of the base has a 1/4" thread. Screw it onto any tripod and spread the legs so it stands firmly.

Horizontal pipe

An adapter with a V-groove for a railing or pipe Ø 16–56 mm (square tube 20–50 mm). Tighten the 1/4" screw into the base before strapping the adapter on, then fasten it with a stainless hose clamp or two cable ties.

Vertical pipe

An adapter for a vertical pipe or pole Ø 16–56 mm with two clamps. It can also be screwed to a wall with two screws.

Point the front with the engraved Match Moments lettering at the middle of the rink. Panning is ±135° from it, and the adapter can be turned to any angle against the base.

2Phone into the holder

Unplug the power or release the motors before fitting the phone – a powered head can move at any time.

Insert the phone in landscape, screen towards you and rear camera towards the rink. The jaws hold the phone by its long edges and leave the lenses free. Center the phone so the head stays balanced.

3Plugging in the power

Push the adapter plug into the socket at the back of the base. The mount has no power switch – it turns on right away and can be plugged in or out at any time.

Blue LED blinking slowly: the mount is on and waiting for the phone.

Use a 12 V supply only. A laptop adapter (19 V) or reversed polarity will destroy the mount.

4Connecting in the app

  1. 1Open a game and its recording screen.
  2. 2Tap the scissors button ✂️ at the top right to open Recording settings.
  3. 3Scroll to Camera mount and tap Connect mount.
  4. 4The first time, the iPhone asks for Bluetooth access – allow it.
  5. 5The list shows MM Mount followed by four characters (for example MM Mount 3FA2) with its signal strength. Tap it and Connected appears shortly.

The mount is not paired in iPhone Settings – it connects right in the app. Only one phone controls it at a time. Next time the app connects by itself as soon as you open recording, and reconnects after a dropout.

Green LED: the phone is connected.

5First setup: center, direction and limits

  1. 1In the mount panel, open Mount settings and tap Release (turn by hand).
  2. 2By hand, point the camera straight ahead towards the Match Moments lettering and level. Tap Set center and confirm.
  3. 3Tap Hold – while the motors are released, the mount will not move.
  4. 4Check the direction with the joystick: right must turn the camera right, up must tilt it up. If not, turn on Invert pan or Invert tilt.
  5. 5Drive the joystick to the left and right edge of the rink and tap Left and Right (and Up and Down if needed). The camera never turns past the limits. Keep the pan within ±125°; ±90° is enough for a rink.
  6. 6Point at the middle of the rink and tap Set home here. The camera returns here when it loses the play.

The center only needs to be set once after assembling the mount. Set the limits and home every time you move the mount to a new place.

6Following the play

Turn on Follow the game in Recording settings or in the mount panel. The app looks for the puck and players in the image (the analysis runs on the phone) and the mount turns the camera with the play. The 🎯 button in the top bar shows the state, for example Following. Save moment clips with a tap as always.

Turquoise LED: the mount is following the play.

Following sensitivity

Calm = slow, smooth panning; the camera waits for a bigger shift of play. Lively = quick reaction with lead and more movement.

Speed

Presets from Slow to Maximum. Dynamic speed reaches big shifts of play (a long pass, a clearance) faster and keeps small movements smooth.

Follow with tilt too

On by default. Turn it off if the camera should stay at the same height and only pan.

When the play is lost, the mount holds the last direction for a moment, zooms out, returns home and then sweeps the rink between the limits until it finds the play again.

7Manual control

Open the mount panel with the 🎯 button in the top bar. Drag your finger on the joystick – the farther from the center, the faster. The Center and Home buttons move to the saved position. For manual aiming, turn off Follow the game first.

Yellow LED: manual control or moving to a position.

8What the LED colors mean

The status LEDs shine through the translucent lid of the base, so you can tell the state of the mount even without the phone.

TurquoiseFollowing the play

9Firmware update

  1. 1In the app, open Profile › Settings › Camera mount. The app connects to the mount and shows the version in the mount and the latest version.
  2. 2Tap Update to and the version number. Keep the phone near the mount and the app open during the update and do not unplug the power. The LED blinks white; it takes about half a minute to a minute.
  3. 3Done – the app confirms which version the mount is running.

If the transfer fails, the mount keeps its current version. New firmware runs on trial first – if it does not start or the app does not confirm it, the mount returns to the previous version by itself. It accepts only firmware signed by Match Moments. Bluetooth updates work from firmware version 1.2.0.

10Troubleshooting

The mount does not show up in the list

Check the 12 V power and the distance to the phone. Turn on Bluetooth in Control Center and allow it for the app in Settings › Match Moments. If another phone is connected to the mount, it will not show up in the list – disconnect it first.

There are several mounts in the rink

The app connects to the last one used, otherwise to the one with the strongest signal. Tell them apart by the four characters in the name. Forget mount clears the remembered mount.

The joystick does not respond

The motors are released. In Mount settings, tap Hold.

Following stopped: axis direction is inverted

The axis turns the opposite way than the image shows. Turn on Invert pan or Invert tilt – following then resumes.

The shot is restless or overshoots

Set the sensitivity to Calm or lower the speed.

A servo is overloaded

Balance the phone in the holder and check that the head turns freely with nothing in the way.

An axis hit an obstacle

The mount has stopped by itself. Remove the obstacle and move the joystick.

The firmware update will not start

The phone may remember an old list of the mount services. Turn Bluetooth off and on in iPhone Settings and connect the mount again. Firmware older than 1.2.0 cannot be updated over Bluetooth – please contact us.

Safety

  • Use only a 12 V power supply with CE marking.
  • Once powered, the head can move at any time. Keep fingers out of the gaps between the phone holder, collar and ball. Release the motors or unplug the power before fitting the phone.
  • Do not force the head past the ±135° stop.
  • Above people, secure the mount with a safety cord and check that it holds firmly.
  • Keep the tripod stable with its legs spread and route the cable away from walkways.
  • Dry indoor spaces only, 0–40 °C. Do not open the housing and do not use a damaged mount. It is not a toy.
  • Do not unplug the power during a firmware update.
